Former Senator and Vice President Joe Biden, who was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania on November 20, 1942, turned 80 years old on Sunday. The Democratic politician is the oldest person to ever serve as President of the United States.

Biden's Commitment to Public Service

Biden has dedicated nearly half his life to public service. He was first elected to the United States Senate in 1972 and served there for 36 years. In 2009, President Barack Obama selected Biden to be his running mate, and the two served together for eight years.

Biden's Personal Tragedies
